Chapter 390 Fairies
Of course, before Kain fully revealed this new evolutionary form to the world, he needed to collect more data on it.
How strong is it? What would its quality be considered as? How does it compare to other spiritual creatures of the same quality? Does integrating more attributes into the cocoon change anything?
Thankfully, unlike most planners that would have to perform a variety of tests to assess the quality of a new completely unknown species, Kain had the System.
Based on the System, Kain determined that the quality of these 'fairies' was platinum. A decent improvement compared to their quality prior to evolution.
With the experience gained from the first success in just a few more weeks, his efforts finally bore fruit.
Not only had he managed to stabilize cocoons integrating 5, 6, 7, and even all 8 elemental energies, but he had also uncovered the significance behind how many were integrated.
---------------------------
Let's start with the simplest of forms, those that only used 4 types of silk to evolve.
The simplest chance of success was with cocoons integrating only four elemental energies. These fairies, which Kain dubbed "lesser fairies," have childishly adorable humanoid forms but showed significant improvement in combat power compared to their pre-evolved insect-like state. Also, in addition to losing their appearances as moths or butterflies, they also are no longer capable of producing silk.
Each lesser fairy had two pairs of translucent butterfly-like wings that shimmered in colors corresponding to their primary attributes. Their attacks had now shifted to elemental magic—blasts of fire, torrents of water, slicing gales, or crushing vines depending on their element. While their strength fell on the weaker side of platinum-quality spiritual creatures, their versatility in elemental magic made them valuable.
---------------------------
Changes are less noticeable, but definitely present once integrating 5 types of elemental silk.
By integrating five stable elemental energies into a cocoon, Kain produced fairies that were still considered by Kain to be "lesser fairies".
These fairies still had two pairs of wings but possessed far greater energy reserves, elemental control, and skill variety. Their attacks became more intricate, capable of affecting wider areas or hitting with pinpoint precision.
Though they lacked the raw power of higher-grade spiritual creatures, these fairies evolved from five-elements could hold their own against most mid-tier platinum-quality spiritual creatures.
---------------------------
The major breakthrough came when Kain successfully integrated six elemental energies.
These "greater fairies" were more mature in appearance, appearing like slightly older children with less baby fat, and their clothing was far more detailed, almost resembling ceremonial robes.
Moreover, unlike lesser fairies they possessed three pairs of wings (six wings total).
In terms of strength, greater fairies reached the pinnacle of platinum quality, rivaling and sometimes surpassing weaker diamond-quality spiritual creatures. Their elemental control was near flawless, and they displayed an impressive repertoire of high-level magical abilities.

Greater fairies had another advantage—an inherent bloodline suppression over lesser fairies. This made it almost impossible for lesser fairies to effectively resist or fight against them.
---------------------------
Similarly, the integration of 7 elements into the cocoon still produced "greater fairies", but they were improved in quality.
These fairies retained their six-winged form but surpassed their counterparts evolved with 6 types of silk in every aspect—energy reserves, elemental mastery, physical resilience, and skill diversity.
This evolution represented the silkworm lineage's first entry into diamond-quality spiritual creatures. While these fairies were on the lower end of the diamond spectrum, and couldn't compare in strength to the pure-blooded dragons and phoenixes which are often diamond quality at birth, it is still a huge accomplishment.
Their bloodline suppression over lesser and even other greater fairies was huge, and they carried an almost noble presence, commanding respect from all who saw them.
---------------------------
However, Kain's crowning achievement came when he successfully integrated all eight elemental energies into a cocoon. What emerged was nothing short of perfection—a creature he dubbed a "royal fairy."
These fairies possessed four pairs of wings (eight in total) and their clothing was ornate, almost regal, adorned with intricate designs reminiscent of ancient royalty.
Moreover, their appearance differed from lesser and greater fairies in that they had a gemstone, corresponding to their element, embedded into their foreheads, radiating an aura of power.
Royal fairies were leagues above their peers, their strength placing them firmly among the stronger diamond-quality spiritual creatures.
Their abilities were not only more powerful but also more refined, capable of both devastating destruction and excellent support.
Their bloodline suppression extended over all lesser and greater fairies, and they possessed the terrifying ability to forcibly control lesser fairies, and even greater fairies if their level disparity was significant enough.
Unfortunately, successfully integrating all energies to create a "royal" required quite a lot of luck, and even Kain had only succeeded once with a light-attribute Haloed Butterfly.
Kain looked lovingly at the fairies flitting about, and even the students sent to support him in the animal care facility had, upon getting over their initial shock, gradually fallen in love with these adorable and beautiful creatures.
In fact, after someone had secretly leaked a photo online of an adorable water-attribute lesser fairy and revealed it to be the latest product of Kain's research, the number of volunteers to work with Kain and people loitering around the facility had increased into the dozens. There'd even been a few attempted break-ins.
And with more and more leaks, the anticipation for this new spiritual creature was already great enough to suppress any news in the press.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Kain had even received inquiries on how to purchase those in this facility, and some of the figures they had quoted for a greater fairy almost had him immediately hand one over.
However, in the end he resisted. After all, he currently had the perfect amount to support all of the research data he'd need to present when getting his patent approved.
He had a couple lesser fairies of each element, but only one greater fairy for each element evolved from 6 and 7 types of silk, respectively.
Moreover, he only had the one Royal Fairy.
Kain called down the single Royal Fairy, which happened to be evolved from a light-attribute Haloed Butterfly.
It was a breathtaking vision. Its 8 shimmering golden wings appeared to possess abstract patterns of sunbursts and halos.
As it moved toward him it unconsciously scattered soft beams of light across the room, creating a warm, ethereal glow.
Its flawless features were more refined and elegant than the cute lesser fairies, with skin that gleamed with a faint golden glow resembling sun-kissed skin, while its flowing hair was like a cascade of pure liquid gold.
Embedded in its forehead was a gleaming yellow gemstone resembling topaz, the same brilliant gold as its eyes, which radiated a calming and majestic energy.
Its gown, composed of a fabric resembling silk was adorned with patterns of stars and was what one would expect from a member of royalty.
When its palm-sized body landed in his hand, Kain's eyes sparkled with what the volunteers around thought were tears of love.
Some of the female students couldn't help "oohing and ahhing" over the visual. They decided that the strange rumours about his personality must be false. After all, he clearly treats these cute sprites like his precious daughters so he couldn't be a bad person.
However if they could read his mind at this moment as he tearfully gazed at the queen in his hand, they may reach a different conclusion.
'SO. MUCH. MONEY!' He couldn't help but think back brokenheartedly to the astronomical sum that had been offered to him that morning for this single royal fairy that he'd turned down, and couldn't help feeling a twisting and stabbing sensation in his chest.
What do you think?
